First LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2012 closed with strong industry support

The first edition of the LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA held September 14 until 16 2012 at Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC) in Mumbai played host to 127 exhibitors and 2688 trade visitors. The visitors came from industry sectors like automotive, telecommunications, medical, diamond as well as research institutes and others. Leading companies of the sector, along with international pavilions from Germany, China, Japan and Lithuania offered visitors the latest cutting-edge products, technologies and industrial applications. The show, organized by Messe Muenchen International India established itself as an enabler for the development of the photonics industry in India. Norbert Bargmann, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Messe Muenchen mentioned: "We are happy that the first edition of the show was successful. We were greatly supported by Indian laser and photonics associations. The international range of exhibitors and the number of visitors was more than satisfying. Exhibitors reaffirmed that this platform is what they needed in India. It showed: This new business platform is an important step towards further developing the emerging market for optical technologies in India." Dr. Lalit Kumar, Managing Director - Laser Science expressed: "The exhibition was conducted very professionally and the seminars on different scientific and industrial topics were added features. Being the first exhibition, the size was adequate and we could get some very good quality leads. We are pleased to exhibit here and could reap benefits in terms of new business opportunities with end-users, system manufacturers and laser companies across the globe. We look forward to the next show and will definitely participate there even in a bigger way." The trade fair was established as a network-platform for the key decision makers and the who's who of the industry. Additionally it works as a forum where the Laser and Photonics industry, associations and scientific experts exchange their ideas. At the current show they shared their vision by the way of the Seminar "Laser Basics and Applications." The seminar featured trend topics of photonics that were addressed by 13 renowned speakers from the industry and associations that witnessed 155 trade audiences. Dr. P.K Gupta , President, India Laser Association emphasized on the need for policy reforms in Laser and Photonics Industry in India: "Though India is taking huge strides in the field of Lasers, the applications are confined to in-house research, which is mostly captive and is unavailable to the masses. Waking up to this fact, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, are taking adequate measures to bridge this gap and promote the Industry as a key growth enabler. The LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA 2012 was a show that provided the much needed platform for the industry". LASER WORLD of PHOTONICS India 2012 was supported by The Optical Society of India, India Laser Association , Photonics Society of India, OptecNet Germany, SPECTARIS and The Optical Society. The next edition of LASER World of PHOTONICS INDIA will be held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre (BEC), Mumbai, India from 12-14 November 2013. Parallely, MMI India will also host Intersolar India and analytica Anacon India during the same period at the same venue.
